Art and Social Action are teaming up this year with a special commitment to Goal 3: a social awareness which impels to action. A new project for classes Studio 2, Studio 3, and Drawing and Painting, is challenging its students to create in one week a thoughtful, creative, and meaningful response to each of the topics covered this year.
Students from these three classes bring their sketchbooks to each Social Action assembly to listen, sketch, and write personal reflections, which will later be shared in class. The brief discussion sets a foundation for a completed work of vision, displayed in the Upper School at the end of each semester for all to see.
An artist’s voice and message, creating the building blocks behind the mixed media, is meant to stand out loud and proud in the semester display and will hopefully make just as big of an impact on the audience as it will on the student behind the creation.
