Each Social Action Wednesday, Madie McCormick ’11, Catherine Kan ’12, and Vicki Zhu ’12 venture to Hillhaven Assisted Living, Nursing, and Rehabilitation Center in Adelphi, Maryland to serve the community of residents and their caretakers. The three students help the elderly residents by facilitating activities such as parachutes and Bingo, as well as leading exercise activities to get the residents moving. When asked about her service, Madie said, “My favorite part is talking to the residents, especially when they tell us about their own days as high school students.” The overall sentiment from the group is that this has been a rewarding experience for all the students involved.
